The Perils of Nanotech, Part 1: Dancing in the Dark - TechNewsWorld, USA
"Any product that directly exposes consumers to nanoparticles is our greatest concern," explained Friends of the Earth spokesperson Ian Illuminato. "Nanoparticles that are applied to the skin, eaten and/or breathed -- such as with foods and cosmetics -- are extremely risky, because once they enter our bodies, studies have shown that they can pretty much access and penetrate any part of our bodies."

What Was the White House Thinking? - Environmental Defense, USA
It’s been a few months now since the White House took the unusual step of articulating some “Principles for Nanotechnology EH&S Oversight.”
Despite the title, it’s very hard not to read this document as one intended primarily to throw up barriers to effective oversight.

Pentagon releases new analysis of China’s military development and strategy - NanoWerk, USA
The Pentagon on Monday released its latest analysis of China’s military development and strategy. The report, which can be downloaded from the Department of Defense's website – Military Power of the People’s Republic of China 2008, says that "in nanotechnology research, China has gone from virtually no research or funding in nanotechnologies and processes five years ago, to being a close second to the United States in total government investment."
